A clock inside a terrestrial globe that opens, standing on a cherry-wood table. I designed and made it in 2014 and 2015 for my Brevet des Métiers d'Art. It's the first clock to show the equation of time in a straight line.
The dial
The sun doesn't cross the meridian at exactly noon. Depending on the season, it runs up to sixteen minutes ahead or fourteen behind. On Astro, an index slides along a slot, next to a ruler marked from −16 to +16. There's no hand for it.
The small disc nearest the centre, its thirty-one days engraved in little circles, read by a steel hand.
The larger disc beside it carries three rings, the months, the seasons and the signs of the zodiac, with a single hand that goes round them once a year.

Baselworld 2016
I entered Astro in the Young Talent Competition of the AHCI and François-Paul Journe, and it won. François-Paul Journe handed me the prize: a diploma and a CHF 3,000 grant from Horotec. A few weeks later I opened TL-Watchmaking. The Model 1 grew out of this clock.
